Tactical Guardians Academy, LLC was founded in Fort Worth, Texas, to make responsible firearms training accessible, practical, and results-driven. I’m Thai Nguyen, your instructor and the academy’s founder. I believe carrying responsibly is a mindset and a daily discipline, not a hobby. My commitment is simple: empower everyday citizens to be prepared, confident, and competent in real-world conditions.
In every class, we combine safety, judgment, and efficient mechanics with timer-guided reps and clear standards. You leave with a plan, specific drills, and measurable benchmarks so progress is visible and repeatable. My passion meets purpose when students gain the knowledge and composure to protect themselves and their families. Between sessions, I share training concepts and support on YouTube to keep you moving forward.

Starting as a Gamer
I started out as a gamer, and my passion for firearms was sparked by iconic games like Call of Duty, Resident Evil, and CS:GO. These games fueled my interest in precision shooting, tactical strategy, and mastering challenging scenarios. The thrill of competitive, hardcore marksmanship in virtual environments quickly evolved into a real-world commitment to responsible training and practical self-defense skills. I realized that the focus, discipline, and tactical mindset I developed in gaming had real-life applications, driving me to pursue firearm proficiency beyond the screen.
Gun Enthusiast
My journey into becoming a gun enthusiast truly took off when my best friend introduced me to clay shooting. The thrill of hitting moving targets with precision felt like bringing my gaming passion into the real world. It was more than just a sport; it was a challenge that combined focus, discipline, and skill, much like the competitive marksmanship I practiced in games. Shortly after that unforgettable experience, we visited a local pawn shop where I made a pivotal decision. I bought my first firearm, a Mossberg Patriot 30-06. Holding that rifle marked the transition from virtual marksmanship to real-world commitment, fueling my passion for responsible firearm ownership and practical training.
Licence Firearms Instructor
Becoming a firearms instructor was the natural progression of my passion and dedication. After years of honing my skills, I pursued formal certifications as a Texas LTC Instructor, USCCA Certified Firearms Instructor, RSO (Range Safety Officer), Armed Security Officer, and Personal Protection Officer (PPO). My journey also included hands-on experience as a mature gunsmith and church security advisor.
Now, I am committed to sharing my knowledge with others, focusing on responsible armed civilian training and practical self-defense skills, and building the mindset needed to carry out tasks with confidence and purpose.

Where Are You Located? We operate mainly in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, with sessions commonly held at Shoot Smart, GRITR and at Texas Defensive Shooting Academy (TDSA).
Do We Offer Texas LTC Courses? Yes. We run Texas License to Carry (LTC) classes about eight times per year, and they book quickly. Students of all skill levels attend to learn Texas laws, legal use of force, EDC/handgun fundamentals, and basic live-fire fundamentals for first-time shooters.
What Do My Fees Cover? Fees vary by course and selected add-ons. Standard tuition includes instruction, range fee, and targets. Ammunition is not included. Range fees and firearm rentals are included unless explicitly stated; some classes, including certain LTC offerings, may bundle range fees and firearm rentals. All inclusions and exclusions are listed on the course syllabus.
What is your cancellation and reschedule policy? 72+ hours before class: Cancel or reschedule free. Inside 72 hours: May be denied or issued a partial refund at the instructor’s discretion. No-show: No refund and may be denied re-enrollment. Emergencies: Contact Instructor Thai Nguyen ASAP to request a reschedule or discuss options.
