Service Description
Step beyond casual target shooting and build the foundation for real-world defense with the AR-15 platform. Self-Defense Foundations: Carbine/AR-15 101 is designed for new or returning shooters who want practical, safe, and repeatable skills for home and personal defense. Unlike recreational range time, this course focuses on proven defensive techniques and efficient weapon handling for high-stress situations. Whether this is your first formal class or you’re refreshing dormant skills, you’ll leave with confidence in your ability to set up, run, and maintain your carbine responsibly. Students are encouraged to bring their own AR-15, sling, and magazines; limited rentals may be available at an additional cost (ask in advance). What You’ll Learn - Defensive mindset & firearm safety (platform-specific best practices) - Carbine setup & fit (sling adjustment, stock position, optic height) - Ready positions & mount (low ready, high/ compressed ready, efficient presentation) - Fundamentals of control (stance, grip, trigger press, follow-through) - Sighting concepts (iron/optic basics, zero confirmation overview) - Load, reload, and basic malfunction clearing (emergency/tactical reloads, immediate action) - Safe movement & muzzle management (range-approved positional work) Student Outcomes By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid grasp of the core defensive carbine skills needed to safely handle, mount, aim, and run an AR-15 under basic pressure. You’ll understand how to set up your rifle, manage reloads and common stoppages, and apply accountable hits at defensive distances, laying the groundwork for Performance Fundamentals 201 and future home-defense training. The course is located and taught in the DFW metroplex of Texas. This course can accommodate an individual, a small group, or even a larger group.
